Meet Renee
Bula. I'm Renee.
You are planning a trip to Fiji. That alone is worth being excited about, because Fiji is genuinely one of the most remarkable places on this earth. Warm water, warm people, islands that stop you where you stand, food that will surprise you, culture that will move you, and a pace of life that will remind you why you needed this trip in the first place.
I was born in Fiji — Rotuman and European on my mother's side, iTaukei Fijian and European on my father's. I grew up there, on those islands, in that culture. I moved to New Zealand at 17, then to Australia in my late twenties. I now live in Queensland with my family, but Fiji is where we are from and we go back as often as we can. Every single time, it feels like coming home.
The name Helava is a Rotuman word, pronounced heh-lava, meaning beautiful, stunning, radiant. My mother's family is from Rotuma, a small island that is part of Fiji but has its own language, its own customs and its own identity entirely. We chose the name because it captures what we believe travel should feel like. Beautiful people, beautiful places, beautiful food, beautiful culture. All of it together.
I have also spent over 20 years working in the travel industry across New Zealand and Australia, with some of the largest travel companies in the region. And in all that time, what I kept seeing were the same packages, the same resort deals, the same beautiful imagery. Which Fiji absolutely is. But what I did not see was the culture. The people. That genuine curiosity to go beyond the resort gates and understand where you actually are.
That gap is why this exists. If you have been scrolling travel forums for weeks and somehow feel more confused than when you started, I completely understand. Fiji can be overwhelming from the outside. My job is to fix that.
The other half
And Konrad.
Konrad is my husband. He served in the Navy and is a commercial pilot, and he handles the operations, the systems and the tools that make it possible for me to focus on planning properly. We are building this together. Two people doing thoughtful work with care, not a volume agency trying to move people through a template.
We are a Fijian family. Fiji is our home, and helping people see it properly is the whole point.
How we work
Our philosophy.
Every trip we plan is different. We listen first. We do not put templates in front of you. We do not take placements from properties. Every recommendation needs to make sense for the person, the season, the budget, the travel style and the reason behind the trip.
When you plan with us, you get clear thinking from the start. Not a different voice every time. Not a generic list. You get practical guidance, honest opinions and a plan you can actually make decisions from.
Fiji is not a sideline for us. It is the only place we work, because it is the only place we know the way you can only know somewhere you are from.
What we'll never do
- Push a booking before the plan makes sense
- Send you somewhere we would not go ourselves
- Pretend Fiji is simple when it is layered, real, beautiful and alive
- Add noise when you came for clarity
What we'll always do
- Tell you honestly when something is wrong for you
- Ask the questions most travellers forget to ask
- Help you understand what to book, what to skip and why
- Keep the plan grounded in real travel experience
