Beyond the Usual
If you've been to Fiji before and you're ready to go deeper, this is the itinerary. You'll start on Sonaisali Island just outside Nadi, move south to the Coral Coast for surfing and waterfall hikes at Matanivusi, then east through Suva across to Toberua Island—a small, family-run island resort where the reef is yours. This is a multi-property road trip with boat transfers. You'll see the markets in Nadi, stop at the Fiji Museum in Suva, spend active days chasing waterfalls and reef breaks, and finish with five nights on a private island. It's the itinerary for people who want to know Fiji the way locals do.

Common questions
How long does the full itinerary take from start to finish?
Ten days total. Two nights at Sonaisali Island, two nights at Matanivusi, and five nights at Toberua Island. This gives you proper time at each place without rushing.
Do I need to be an experienced diver to dive at Toberua?
No. Toberua's PADI dive centre operates daily and offers introductory dives for first-timers. If diving isn't for you, there's plenty above water—kayaking, paddleboards, kite boarding, fishing, and volleyball.
What's the best time of year for this itinerary?
May to October (dry season) is ideal—dry roads, clear skies, and cooler temperatures. November to April is wet season but fewer tourists and lower prices.
How do I get back to Nadi at the end?
Two options: a 30-minute domestic flight (scenic views included), or a 5-hour drive with a lunch stop. Book Fiji Airways as a through fare for the full 30 kg luggage allowance.
What should I pack for this trip?
Reef-safe sunscreen, waterproof bag, casual clothes for warm weather, boardshorts or swimwear, hiking shoes for waterfall hikes, and cash for local markets. If you're diving or doing water sports, bring a rash guard.
Can I visit villages and schools during this trip?
Yes, visits can be arranged from Matanivusi. Approach them with respect and genuine curiosity—these are real communities, not tourist attractions. Ask the resort to help you engage respectfully.
